The Importance of Industrial Static Control

Static can be an irritation in our personal lives whenever it makes our clothes stick or our hair frizz. But static also has much more extreme consequences on a larger scale. While you might have some simple solutions at home to rid your clothes and hair of static, industrial manufacturing needs more extreme methods of static control.
The need for industrial static control is very important. Dust, fibers, and other contaminants can be pulled into equipment and products while they're on the manufacturing line causing damage to both machines and products and decreasing production levels. In addition, the risk of electric shock to manufacturing employees also increases when there is no system of control set up. While such shock may not be life threatening, it can still cause harm and keep employees from working at their best. Without static control, problems experienced during production can turn quite costly.
Many kinds of industries are in need of controlling the static that inhibits production of materials. Such industries include printers and binders, packaging companies, plastic production, electronic assembly, and manufacturers of medical equipment, to name a few. Some of these include air guns, sheet cleaners, static metering devices, anti static bars, and static neutralizing systems.
Static elimination bars are engineered to precisely control static level for a variety of different uses, including the isolated or cramped areas in buildings like ducting. Ionizing blowers are a specific device that can be installed into the air line to control static levels of the incoming air to an area. They can also be used in pipes or tubes that materials have to move through during the production process.
Static metering devices register both positive and negative electric charges radiating from any surface. They can be small and hand held, which makes them easy to use while also being very accurate and effective at analyzing the level of static to determine the best means for controlling it. Sometimes, though, a static meter may indicate that some static is needed. In this case, an electrostatic generator or charging bar can be very useful for creating a bonding force that will help with adhesion, remove an air pocket, or hold a material steady.
